What We Do

Birmingham Girls Choir is a choral music program for girls consisting of four separate choirs: Dolce, Prelude, Intermezzo, and Una Vocé. The choirs perform a variety of styles of choral music including classical, folk, jazz, world, and pop. Weekly rehearsals reinforce music reading skills, vocal technique, stage presence, and rehearsal etiquette. We seek to find the appropriate choir for each girl, depending on level of ability, not necessarily age.

What Parents Say

“For my daughter who doesn't LOVE sports, she gets the opportunity to be a part of a team — a group of girls who depend on her. She learns that her contribution matters, and it's not just her that suffers if she doesn't put forth the effort. Birmingham Girls Choir is instilling character and composure virtues seldom extolled in our culture these days. I am so grateful for all my daughter is learning in Birmingham Girls Choir, not just about music, but about life.”

Courtney Davenport, Intermezzo Parent

“My daughter has found friends from all over Birmingham with the same interest, her vocal range has improved, and it has allowed our daughter to gain confidence in herself.”

Jaimee Sandlin, Prelude Parent

“Birmingham Girls Choir has given our daughter the tools she needs to feel an added love for and confidence in music that she's never had before. This choir's commitment to excellence is a signpost to the community of how music can elevate youth and their audiences. A fantastic program!”

Christi Minton, Una Vocé Parent

“We love the diverse community of Birmingham Girls Choir.”

Taryn Clark, Intermezzo & Prelude Parent

“She has gained confidence while nurturing a love for music.”

Jenny Dollar, Intermezzo Parent

“I have grown because I can now sing in front of other people while being confident.”

Micah, Intermezzo Singer

“I love Birmingham Girls Choir because I get to learn new singing skills, and when we had our concert it was so beautiful.”

Lyla James, Intermezzo Singer

“I love Birmingham Girls Choir because it has helped me express myself. My favorite memory is singing Christmas carols and making the residents smile at The Oaks on Parkwood Retirement home.”

Loretta, Prelude Singer

“I've always loved to sing. Now, I get to spend time with other girls my age who also have that love of singing, and we get to share it with the world. I've learned a lot about music theory and even more about how to use my voice as an instrument to make the beautiful sounds I want to make.”

Rachel, Una Vocé Singer

“My favorite Birmingham Girls Choir memory is my very first rehearsal, because I felt like I belonged!”

Caroline, Intermezzo Singer
